AI RESEARCH
Research on Artificial Intelligence
Temporal Changes in Affiliation and Emotion in MOOC Discussion Forum Discourse. Peer-reviewed, first-authored paper at International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education. (Springer) Applying NLP and computational discourse analysis to model learners' emotions —an early application of the user-behavior analysis methods now central to AI-driven design.
Facebook and Depression
I have independently designed and conducted a research in the Psychology honors program. My research looks into how people talk about the self on Facebook. Specifically, I focus on whether people with and without depression differ with regards to their use of self-distanced language on Facebook, a way of talking about the self that helps people regulate their emotions. In addition, I am exploring whether self-distanced language elicits more or less social support (e.g., comments or likes) from participant's social network. This innovative project blends my interests in the interaction between people and large social networks and my interests in mental health.

Zazzle project website
This beautiful website showcased my graduation project.
Online shopping website
I have designed an online shopping website for the Fluff Stuff pillow company. The persona is young and trendy people who want to buy beautifully designed pillows. To fit that goal, this website is visually pleasing and fast-paced, designed to target our young users.
React website: My Ann Arbor
When I first came to Ann Arbor, I was 19. When I was there, I complained it was too cold. Only after leaving Ann Arbor did I realize it is one of the few places I can feel as home. The design goal of this React website is to record my memories in Ann Arbor as a beautiful journal.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
Poster
Exhibition brochure: Colloquy of Mobiles
I designed this brochure for an exhibition called Colloquy of Mobiles, which was created by Gordon Pask at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London in 1968, and was then reproduced in 2018. This exhibition has far-reached influence on conversation theories and artificial intelligence in general. To design this brochure, I explored multiple design principles such as information architecture, grid systems, progressive disclosure etc., to create a delightful and somewhat futuristic reading experience.
Poster design: The origins of Avant-Garde
I designed this poster for an Architecture lecture series “The origins of Avant-Garde in America”. Posters usually are on the wall with many other visual competitors, so a successful one usually needs to be visually strong. The wood model in the white circle forms a stark contrast with the black background like a round movie lens that draws viewers in. The wood model also echoes with the topic “origins”.
